About Me

My name is Adam Pooley

Hello and thank you for reviewing my website. My name is Adam. I qualified as a registered nurse in 2010, and since have worked in many clinical areas, namely, A&E, Forensic Medicine and Oncology (Cancer Care), amongst others. 

In 2020, I suffered a mental health crisis and I became very unwell mentally and emotionally. Throughout my own journey I received so much support, and therapy from professionals and it was through that journey that I set out to help others in a different way from my nursing background. 

I trained as an Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist in the back end of 2020 and more recently I became an Accredited Health and well-being Coach. I have set 'Nurse your Mind' Counselling, and Psychotherapy Ltd up to advocate for mental and emotional health in men and women of adult age. I am registered with Association for Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists, (ACCPH)

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Welcome to my counselling services. I understand that life can be challenging and I am here to support you through difficult times. I specialise in anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, altered body image, chronic health issues, pain, bereavement, relationship issues, and couples therapy. I offer a safe, and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and work towards a happier and healthier life. 

Are you tired of waking up feeling like a grumpy grouch? Let's shake things up! My services are the perfect antidote for anyone who needs a change in their life. Together, we'll explore new ways to move forward, gain valuable insights, and transform negative mindsets into positive ones. Who knows, you might even start waking up with a smile on your face!

Various Methods I use

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a method of communication and personal development that focuses on the relationship between language, behaviour, and the mind. It involves techniques and strategies for changing patterns of thought and behaviour to achieve specific goals.

 

 EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy approach that has been proven effective in treating trauma and other mental health conditions. It involves a series of guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help process traumatic memories and reduce their impact on daily life.

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It is a type of therapy that focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviours to improve mental health.

The Swish pattern is a technique used in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) to help individuals overcome negative thought patterns and behaviours. It involves visualizing a positive outcome and then "swishing" it with a negative thought or behaviour, effectively replacing the negative with the positive.

Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the current moment, without judgment or distraction. It involves paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, and accepting them without trying to change or control them. Mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress, improve focus and concentration, and enhance overall well-being.

The above list is just some of the techniques I use but is not exhaustive of them all. One size does not fit everyone, we are all unique, and therefore I use a variety of technique's bespoke to you which will ensure success and is goal orientated.

I have spent many years researching and exploring cancer, treatment options, alternative therapies; I have spoken with consultants, scientists, pharmacists and most importantly the patient and their families. I understand some of the feelings and thoughts when you get that diagnosis or bad news. I have witnessed and been part of those conversations.
